OFFICE SPACE – DESIGN TIPS
When was the last time you thought about office design? How proud are you of your workspace and does it reflect your company and its clientele? Grove & Co recently completed an Executive Offices project on St Stephen Green Dublin 2 that showcases the best in office design. Here we share key areas of the design that allowed us to create modern contemporary office space with the wow factor for both your employees and clientele.
A Warm Welcome
The reception area is critical in establishing a positive first impression for visitors and clients. It’s essential that this space not only reflects the values and professionalism of the business but also that it creates a comfortable atmosphere. Here we took advantage of the ample natural light, alongside various types of layered lighting to ensure the area feels warm and welcoming. A statement light was positioned over the reception desk instantly highlighting the desk to visitors. Thoughtful decor and soft furnishings further enhance this environment, making it a place where clients feel valued and at ease.
Shared / Flexible Workspaces
A good flexible workspace will offer a great environment and culture that is conducive to productivity, it is proven that it fosters creativity and inspiration, and encourages networking and collaboration. As companies ease back into the workplace, many are using this opportunity to take advantage of this workplace revolution and reassess their workspaces. We made the addition of a shared co – working space but also gave people the benefit of private workspaces when needed thus offering more agile and flexible ways of working in the office space.
Contemporary Art Pieces
With this project art plays a major role in defining the character of a space. We used contemporary pieces, bold and abstract to serve as focal points within the floor, providing a modern contrast to more traditional design elements such as panelling and furnishings. These artworks were thoughtfully chosen to reflect the visionary aspects of the company’s personality. The right artwork can stimulate creativity, evoke emotions and create an atmosphere that encourages collaboration and interaction among clients and employees.
Colour
By using a colour palette of luxurious earthy tones such as browns, rust, greens and greys we created a serious and sophisticated atmosphere. These colours not only evoke feelings of comfort and stability but also complement the overall design while allowing the luxurious elements of the office to really stand out. Earthy tones are known to foster a sense of calm and focus, which is essential in a professional environment.
Texture & Lighting
Lighting and textures are essential in the ambiance and enhancing the practicality of an upscale office environment. Every choice in this regard serves both aesthetic and functional purposes, seamlessly blending into the office interior design. The use of polished wooden panelling on walls and furniture isn’t just a nod to classic design but also injects a warm, organic feel into the office. This panelling is not only aesthetically pleasing but also enhances the acoustic properties of the space, making it more conducive to confidential discussions and deep focus.
More than just basic light sources, the lamps were chosen for their artistic designs and the ability to act as standalone pieces of art and to complement the various levels of layered lighting. From table lamps with intricate bases to standing lamps that combine form with function, each was selected to complement the office’s luxurious appeal and provide soft, ambient lighting.
The Personal Touch
Personal touches in this project reflected the client’s individual style and professional ethos but it also created an environment that feels genuinely tailored to their lifestyle. These details, ranging from curated artworks to custom accessories, played a critical role in elevating the office beyond a mere workplace into a statement of personal identity and taste.
